fabric button bookmarks

All I have to say is...


Fabric covered button bookmarks. The easiest, cutest little craft. 

I bought the paperclip blanks on Pick Your Plum last week with these little bookmarks in mind. 


I am betting that you have seen fabric covered buttons all over the blog world. They are cute, cheap, easy to make, and I am in love! I bought my button covering kits at Joann for a few dollars each.

I stitched an "A" onto Aida cloth and made that into a personalized button bookmark. 


Since it isn't within me to leave well enough alone, I had to make a matching set to package up for a cute gift. 

The stamp is from Papertrey Inc. A sweet quote by one of my favorite authors. 


I loved the cross stitch letter so much, I stitched up a tiny heart to make into a button. I am kind of in love. 


In honor of HP7.2, I used my Deathly Hollows book to photograph this cute little clip in action. Magic is Might.

  2. What a great idea! So easy. Did you attach the buttons to the bookmarks yourself? If so how? If not, I wonder how easy it might be to do it.

  4. Cindy - Yes, I did. I just used hot glue. So far it has held up pretty good.

I'm also going to try attaching my tiny cross stitch to a button and putting either a magnet for the frige or thumb tack for bulletin boards. Thanks so much for sharing your ideas!   44. You mentioned you used hot glue...hot glue isn't working for me. The button snaps right off the clip. Did you put some kind of "back cover" on them, to hot the blob of glue, helping it stay on better?

    1. Do you have the paperclips like the ones pictures above? The ones I used have a circle disk on them that I glued the button to, which hides the hot glue. If you are using regular paperclips, you could use a small circle of fabric/felt to hide the glue and clip... like put the button, hot glue and paperclip, then add on the felt to the back. Does that make sense? I really hope this helps and I am sorry you are having trouble!
