doily wall art

I have a sweet, easy project for you today. 

Doily wall art. Easy. Pretty. Charming. 


I bought doilies at Joann because I cannot crochet without having a panic attack. So I figured instead of sending myself into mental breakdown I would just buy doilies. Money well spent. But you might have some passed down from grandparents or you might even be able to crochet these. If you can, you are awesome and we need to be friends. 


Put the doily in the embroidery hoop, tighten it up, and cut off the excess. Hang up and enjoy. That's it. Sometimes it's the simple things.

  32. To those who want to do this with handmade doilies- please, whatever you do, DO NOT cut the excess fabric away from the back. You will absolutely ruin the doily, and it WILL unravel.

    Try threading yarn or thread through the points or edges of the pieces and tightening that in the embroidery hoop instead (maybe tying the thread together in the back to keep it out of the way)- that way you can display the entire doily, not have a bunch of excess in the back, and preserve the beautiful work all at the same time.
