gadanke journal review

I am really excited to introduce a great product to you guys. A few weeks ago, Katie, the creator of Gadanke journals, contacted me to review one of her products.

Here is a little bit about Gadanke
"Document who you are and what you crave and believe. Handmade journaling products at Gadanke are filled with creative writing prompts and tidbits to make you think (and laugh!). These baby books, prayer journals, travel books, and diaries make your writing process more meaningful and fun! Plus they're totally eco-savvy with 100% recycled papers."

I chose the She 1.1 journal in blue shore. It is full of fun writing prompts, pretty details, and gorgeous Italian papers.

Don't you just love that patterned paper? I would totally wallpaper my living room in that if I could.

I love the quotes that you can find throughout the journal. The details like the envelope, tag and library card make it fun and easy to personalize. I tucked a few mini pictures in the envelope, and used another page of the patterned paper to add a picture and small caption.

This is such a great little journal to document yourself. A lot of times we forget to write about ourselves. I am really excited to get writing and documenting my thoughts and feelings about being a wife and working mom. I would love a look back at what my grandma was thinking and going through when she was raising her kids. That's why I love the story behind Gadanke. I'll let Katie tell it in her own words:

"A couple of years ago, NPR's StoryCorp was in town. It was also my grandma's 90th birthday. The two of us decided to hop into the recording studio to capture some pieces of her story. I had all sorts of prompts to help her with her story telling. (I was always the listener, the one who asked question after question.) The only problem? My grandma couldn't remember. Too much time had passed. Later, my dad turned to me and said, "Katie, I need you to write down your story." I knew he wished he had his mom's stories. So I started writing.

I started wondering about all of the other women who have stories deep inside of them, and I started thinking about how my tendency to just listen and ask could help put those stories onto paper. Gadanke was born with fabulous writing prompts and recycled papers. I feel so lucky to be living my dream!"

I love the thought behind this company! Please go check out Gadanke's great shop. Not only can you buy your favorite journal, but there is also a page where other users have shared their own creations using Gadanke journals. Let's be honest - who doesn't want to read another person's journal? You can check them out here. There are some seriously creative folks who have used these books to document their lives.

disclaimer: I was not paid for writing this, but I was given a journal to review. All opinions are honest and 100% mine.

  2. Thanks for reviewing these journals, I ordered one! Just in time, as I live in Mozambique but someone is coming soon who can bring it to me. JUST today I thought "I really should journal." I hope the prompts will inspire me more than a blank page does! Blessings, Laura
