labor day

Hope you all had a good Labor Day weekend.

We had company for the weekend, and they left on Sunday. On Monday, I drove down to my parents farm to pick up my dog. They had been dogsitting so that our company wouldn't be bothered by our less than friendly chihuahua, Moose.

So, off I go, with Sawyer on a two hour trip there. I had everything - a stocked diaper bag, the iPad, snacks, annoying cd's, sippy cup. Everything. Can you guess where I went wrong? Bet you can't.

I broke out the iPad about 30 minutes into the trip. I figured he could watch his Thomas movie the rest of the way there and I would hear no crying, whining, or screaming. We were about 30 minutes from our destination when he started whining and crying. I thought he was hungry. Nope. I thought he was bored with Thomas. Nope. I figured out what was wrong with about 10 minutes left on the trip when he projectile vomited all over the back seat. Yep. Bet you didn't see that one coming. I sure didn't. Ack. I did what any good mom would do and that is finish the trip with a puke covered kid and the lovely aroma filling the car. We got there, bathed him, and let him outside to play with the dogs and he was fine.

My little boy inherited my tendency towards car sickness. Lovely. So when I had you guess where I went wrong - it was the iPad. Watching tv while riding in the car was the trigger, because he was fine on the way home with no movies.

You live, you learn.

While there, he had fun chasing the dogs and walking up and down the gravel road. I got some good pics of the pretty fall day. I also got chigger bites and a couple of ticks while taking these pictures. This is why I am a city girl through and through. I hate bugs, am scared to death of ticks, and I have spent the day planning what will happen when the doctors diagnose me with Lyme Disease. I am only partially kidding.

Hope your labor day was filled with less vomiting, less itching, and just as many sweet pictures.

  1. Poor little guy! I suffer from car sickness sometimes too. Its the pits. My hubs, on the other hand, can read for hours while riding in the car. It almost makes me sick just thinking about it. Glad the trip home went better.

I appreciate each and every lovely comment you leave!
