I love seeing simple cards that you & other crafters make, but when I try to recreate them I feel like they look amateur. If I would have made this exact card, for instance, I would have felt like I needed to go back & put matting on it, jewels, stitching, maybe some 3D items...
Am I just experiencing "your own worst critic" syndrome or is there a trick/tip that I'm missing?
Kelly - the corners are rounded by a punch. If you search for corner rounder on Amazon, a whole bunch of options will come up. The dies are by Papertrey Ink and I use them in my cuttlebug. PTI creates sets of stamps that have coordinating dies available. They have tons of fun options.
Elle - I have the same problem with being my own worst critic. I have made so many cards that I feel like are missing something so I never send them or never post about them. For me, I think about cards that I am drawn to by in stores. At Border's or Target, I am really attracted to simple cards with one 3-d embellishment or image and a small sentiment, so I try ro recreate that in my own way. Maybe you are attracted to cards with lots of layers and jewels, so you should work to create something that fits your style. Practice, practice, and try try again. Re-arrange things before gluing and just see what you like.
I bought the stamps I made this card with online at Papertrey Ink. I do buy some stamps at the store though... I would say half at the store, half online.
cute!
ReplyDeleteReally cute! So I have a question... do you get rounded corners on your card by cutting them manually, or do you have a die?
ReplyDeleteAnd are your chair-shaped dies for the cuttlebug, or a punch? (I'm still tring to figure all this stuff out!)
