up and down

down:
While unwrapping a new book for Sawyer (It was one of those books that plays sounds and was shrink wrapped), the book slipped from my hands and I gave myself a bloody, fat lip. It was awesome and graceful.

On Thursday my car broke down and overheated while I was about 20 miles away from home. It was 95 out and I had Sawyer with me. (We made it home safe - eventually, and my car was fixed, eventually on Monday). It was also awesome and I was positively glowing (i.e.drenched with sweat.)

up:

My car is fixed! I am so thankful that it was a relatively cheap and easy fix. I don't know what was wrong with it really. People keep asking me and I explain that a heat something was cracked and stuff was leaking but it works now so that's good. Anyway, a sigh of relief here - I always feel like I dodged a bullet when I leave the mechanics paying less than $200.

I am half way done with my craft for the Handmade Gift Exchange at Craftaholics Anonymous. It is taking a while because I can only work for like 20 minutes a night before I pass out. But it is going to be cuuu--ute. Seriously so excited!

In June, Anderson and I made a new commitment to only eat out one time a week. I know some people who never eat out (cheers to you!) or only eat out on special occasions, but we eat out a lot. I am ashamed to say how much - but know that cutting it down to one time a week is HUGE. That means that the rest of the week I have to cook. (Dramatic back of hand to forehead.) I really don't like grocery shopping and cooking, which explains why we eat out so much. We made this goal and I am very proud to say that we have stuck to it. Yay!

I get to go see Shakespeare in the Park tonight with a friend. We are bringing books and a picnic and it is going to be lovely.

That is what is going on here. The good, the bad, and the bloody lip. Have a great week everyone!

  1. Minus the fat lip and the car breaking down, sounds like you had a pretty great week! It's always a nice thing when the ups outnumber the downs. We eat out entirely too much, and with a family of 5, that adds up really quickly. We've cut it down to once a week, and it's been a nice relief to our budget (and my waistline!). I do a similar post every Sunday called Highs and Lows. I'd love if you'd check it out.

  2. I found your blog recently and love the clean, uncluttered look as well as all the loveliness :)

I'm going to feature that craft room on Monday next week :) on my organising blog, by the way as it is just DARLING.

But what I really wanted to say is this - I love the way that even though you only have 20 minutes a night you're using it to live your passion. LOVE it!

  3. Sorry to hear about your car problems! Scary, especially when we have little ones that we need to protect. We, too, need to stop eating out so much! It is just so easy to say let's order in! You should do a recipe exchange to give us all new ideas for our weekly meal planning!

  4. Hm, a recipe exchange is a good idea. I will work on something like that - maybe a link party or something?
