five things friday: smile makers

It's been a couple weeks since my last "5 things Friday." Sorry about that.

I thought this week I would keep it simple - 5 things that are making me smile right now. Sound good?

1. My freshly painted gold nails. I feel glamorous and summery and pretty. Every time I catch a glimpse of my ultra shiny nails I grin. This is the lovely metallic color I used:

2. Hanson's "Thinking 'Bout Something" video. Yes, I still like Hanson. I even like "Mmmbop." Because I am having flashbacks of my painfully awkward 13 year old self weeping at the sight of Hanson on tv on the Today Show (yes, that really happened), I will spare you any mmmbopping. Hopefully you will thank me for this smile worthy video. Even if the video doesn't make you smile, my admission of once being a weepy Hanson fanatic should :)

3. My mermaid embroidery. I am totally not all about tooting my own horn, but I love seeing these sweet like mer-people a few times a day. It is so nice to just have something you love in your house, regardless of if it is stylish or "in" or whatever. From now on, I vow to display things that make me happy.

4. I think I might buy these little measuring cups. Seriously. I need to because I just vowed to fill my house with things I love - regardless of if they "go." See how that works? Anyways, these make me smile - so cute!

5. Last, but most certainly not least - I have hit 300 followers! My guess post over at Craftaholics Anonymous has gained me some new followers, so a big welcome to all of you! 300 is huge for me and I feel so honored that all of you want to read my blog. I will be having a giveaway next week to mark this momentous occasion, so keep an eye out!

What is making you smile this week?

  1. THIS BLOG is totally making me smile. I agree with you I think you should put things in your house that make you smile. Last Sat for mother's day my husband took me to a new store that sells polish pottery and let me pick out whatever I wanted. So they have these cats that for some reason I was drawn to but I kept trying to talk myself out of it because someone once made fun of my house and some of its decor. I threw all those insecurities out the window and the lovely polish cat came home with me...and I of course had to name her and put her proudly on display. So Lola now resides on my counter top as a reminder of my son and how great it is to be a mom!!! Thanks for your Smile Makers

  2. Oh you are SO sweet!

I love that you picked out the cat and that it means something to you! Isn't that what making a home is all about - making a joyful, comforting home for yourself and for your family. Yay for you!

    Thanks so much for commenting!

  3. i think that you should do a vlog of mmmbop!! you know you want to :) and we would all be singing along with you!!

  4. I love this blog and am happy to have found it. I awarded you the versatile blogger award! Have a happy day!

I also love your mer-people and love surrounding myself with things I... well, love! It's one of the many reaons I love crafting so much.

I found your blog through Craftaholics and I love love love your crafting room, especially the way you've made the practical look so pretty.

  9. Better late than never. Hanson makes me smile too! It helps that my kids can listen to it with me. My little girl is really into mermaids and your embroidery is beautiful! She would love one that looks like herself. Blessings, Lisa
